Jack Reacher gets caught up in a kidnapping drama that brings him to England. However, not everything goes as he intended and he makes a mistake, a fatal mistake -

Reacher is in New York. He sits alone in a cafe and without being aware of it, he becomes a witness to the kidnapping drama. The evening after when he once again visits the cafe, a man comes out and asks what he has seen the night before. The man is a security manager at a very well-known and successful businessman and Reacher follows his home to tell him what he has seen. The businessman tells about the kidnapping and that it was his wife and her daughter they took. Now he wants Reacher with his past as a military to help him find the perpetrators. The few tracks he receives lead to the other side of the Atlantic and to a small coastal town.

But, if everything is not what it seems to be and what seemed to be easy-earned money for Reacher, it now turns out to be a more and more complicated case.
